Benefits

Located near the Sierra Nevada foothills in Madera, California - El Campo Olive Ranch in April '08 established its initial 45 acres High Density Plantings (HDP's) of Arbequina Olives with growth of an additional 55 acres in the near future. While Olives have a long history in Madera with several 80-100 year old trees still in production, El Campo Olive Ranch seeks to establish itself as a founder in developing HDP's in the Madera area.

ARBEQUINA owes its name to the region called Arbeca in Catalonia, Spain. It is believed that it was brought there during the Middle Ages from the Mediterranean island of Majorca, birthplace of the California padres.

As well as being a table olive, it is used to produce a highly valued olive oil. Generally, arbequina-based olive oils are more buttery, with a slightly peppery finish.
